Avontuur

Our partner Timbercoast has been sailing freight on her sailing ship since 2016 Avontuur' (Dutch for "adventure") across the world's oceans. The team led by founder Cornelius Bockermann spent two years converting the 44 metre long cargo sailing ship from 1920 in order to realise their dream of a 'Mission Zero' to be realised. This mission aims to reduce emissions along the entire product value chain and shows that global trade is also possible via alternative, ecologically sustainable routes.

With a professional crew of 5-6 seamen and seamen, the Avontuur' twice a year through wind and weather to transport cargo between America and Europe in an environmentally friendly way. In addition, the ship offers space for 10 "shipmates" who have the unique opportunity to take part in this sustainable sailing experience.

The motto Cargo under Sails' symbolises a revolution in global trade and a return to proven, low-emission transport routes. The use of wind power for the transport of goods represents a sensible alternative to conventional, fuel-powered ships and promotes both ecological and economic sustainability.

Also for the TEIKEI-project, the use of the Avontuur' represents an important step towards further expanding the vision of a sustainable supply chain. In addition to the routes through the Mediterranean Sea In future, the ship will also call at the ports of the capital cities on the North Sea and Baltic Sea including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Oslo and Helsinkito further decentralise the movement of goods and reduce the environmental footprint of transport both in the Mediterranean region and in Northern Europe.

A crowdfunding project will help to cover the costs of sailing transport between various ports in the Mediterranean, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, thereby contributing to the sustainable logistics of the whole of Europe. TEIKEI-project.
